85.1% of civil servants require national script training

According to a survey conducted by the National Statistics Office (NSO), 46.3 percent of civil servants are not ready to use the national script in official documents, and 85.1 percent said that there is a need for national script training.

Of respondent­s, 79 percent were civil servants, 13.3 percent administra­tive civil servants, 4.9 percent political civil servants, and 2.8 percent special civil servants.

Of the total number of civil servants surveyed, 53.7 percent said they were ready to use the Mongolian script and Cyrillic in official documents, while 46.3 percent said they were not, and 72.8 percent said they are familiar with the national script.

According to the survey, 5.2 percent of civil servants know Mongolian script very well, 28.7 percent have average knowledge, 27.2 percent do not know, and 25.5 percent have little knowledge.

Moreover, 63.1 percent of the surveyed civil servants said they would attend a training if it were offered in a classroom, 27.5 percent expressed interest in online training, 8.3 percent in online and classroom training, and 0.8 percent in other forms.

Within the framework of the National Program of the Mongolian Script, in accordance with the Law on Mongolian Language, state documents will use both Cyrillic and Mongolian scripts starting 2025. In this regard, the NSO conducted a survey to determine civil servants’ knowledge about the national script.
