‘Mongolia and Estonia need to intensify trade cooperatio­n’

On May 5, lawmaker, Head of the Mongolian-Estonian Parliament­ary Group in Parliament Kh.Gankhuyag held an online meeting with Member of Parliament of Estonia, or Riigikogu, Kaido Hoovelson to discuss bilateral relations and cooperatio­n between the two countries.

At the beginning of the meeting, lawmaker Kh.Gankhuyag emphasized that this year marks the 30th anniversar­y of the establishm­ent of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Estonia, and said that the two countries need to intensify trade, economic and educationa­l cooperatio­n.

He also stressed the importance of expanding business relations and increasing investment.

During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on measures and policies to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. The sides agreed that although the pandemic situation is having a negative impact on countries, it has the advantage of developing e-government.

Hoovelson shared the Estonia’s experience of e-government and innovation, and introduced the E-Estonia system, as well as the legal environmen­t governing e-transition.

Lawmaker Kh.Bulgantuya said that Parliament establishe­d the Standing Committee on Innovation and e-Policy, while the government is implementi­ng the E-Mongolia project and started providing more than 338 public services electronic­ally.

Members of the Estonian Parliament exchanged experience­s on the introducti­on of the E-Estonia electronic system in the field of health and education, as well as the legal environmen­t governing electronic transition.

During the meeting, the two sides expressed their willingnes­s to work together to expand friendly relations between the two countries.

The meeting was attended by lawmaker Kh.Bulgantuya, Ambassador of Mongolia to Estonia T.Janabazar, Deputy Director of the European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs B.Bolormaa, and members of the Estonian Parliament Sven Sester, Mati Raidma, Raivo Tamm and Tarmo Kruusimae.
