Mongolia will send whole national wrestling team to Olympics
The 2021 World Wrestling Qualification Tournament was held between May 6 and 9 in Sofia, Bulgaria. It was the last wrestling qualification tournament for the Tokyo Olympic Games, which will take place from July 23 and August 8, 2021.
Mongolia sent several freestyle wrestlers to the tournament and they are coming home with success. Merited Athlete E.Bekhbayar competed in the men’s 57 kg for Olympic qualification. Even though he lost to Japanese Takahashi Yuki 0-1 in finals, he managed to get silver and his ultimate goal, an Olympic qualification.
Kh.Bolortuya wrestled in the women’s 62 kg event. She pulled off an amazing comeback by beating Veronika Ivanov from Belarus 1-9 in the dying minutes of the match. Her spectacular finish raised the number of Olympic qualifications for Mongolia by one.
As a result of the tournament, Mongolia will to send the whole women’s national wrestling team to the biggest sports event of the world, the Olympics.
