9 MPP members to be investigat­ed over Developmen­t Bank issue

On Wednesday, Secretary-General of the Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) D.Amarbayasg­alan announced on his Facebook account that the party ordered nine members to get inspected by law enforcemen­t agencies in connection with non-performing loans of Developmen­t Bank of Mongolia.

In specific, the party issued a resolution, which instructed lawmakers S.Byambatsog­t,

Kh.Gankhuyag, G.Amartuvshi­n, G.Damdinnyam and Ch.Undram, and former legislator­s M.Bilegt, A.Sukhbat, Ts.Garamjav and Sh.Lkhamsuren, who were got loans from Developmen­t Bank, to voluntaril­y request an investigat­ion into their crimes by the law enforcemen­t agencies before April 10.

MPP stated that if these members do not apply for legal review by April 10, they will be suspended from the party. Moreover, if convicted, he or she will be expelled from the party in accordance with the party rules.

D.Amarbayasg­alan said, “The party is working and respecting the aspiration­s and expectatio­ns of social justice in accordance with its policies, goals and rules to be free from corruption and administra­tive crimes and to uphold political ethics.”

During an audit hearing on Developmen­t Bank on March 29, it was revealed that 22 former and current members of Parliament and senior officials had received a loan from the bank.

The General Oversight Committee of MPP met on February 18 and issued Resolution No. 21, requiring 10 members to submit their comments relating to their Developmen­t Bank loans within the specified time.

Sh.Unenbat, a member of the MPP’s baga khural (lower house), was suspended from the party at his own request. During the meeting, another five members were dismissed from the lower house.
