1.6 billion MNT invested in Bayan-Ulgii General Hospital
The Asian Development Bank-funded Health Sector Development Program-5 has invested 1.6 billion MNT in improving the General Hospital of Bayan-Ulgii Province.
The investment was used to increase blood supplies and their safety and improve infection prevention. In addition, a set of abdominal surgery endoscopes worth 296 million MNT and a van were handed over to two soums of the province. With the renovation of the building and equipment and technology upgrades, the general hospital’s sterilization and disinfection department now has a ventilation system based on modern infection prevention and control principles, as well as a disinfection system for surgical and endoscopic instruments that meets international standards.
Improving the hygiene, infection prevention and control capacity of the general hospital is significant to preventing disease in Mongolia and making medical care available to people, officials noted. Through this program, 13 pieces of equipment worth 397 million MNT and 13 pieces of equipment worth 785.4 million MNT and 20 pieces of video laryngoscope equipment, emergency equipment and umbilical cord worth 28.7 million MNT were handed to the hospital.
Minister of Health S.Enkhbold said, “I would like to thank all the participants, ADB, the project funding team, and the project team for their dedicated efforts to bringing the prevention and control of infection in Mongolia’s health facilities to international standards. On behalf of the health sector, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the project.”
In 2021, the government invested a total of 20.6 billion MNT in Bayan-Ulgii Province from the state budget. But in 2022, it will give the province a total of 2.5 billion MNT, including 20 million MNT in computers and equipment for it health facilities, according to the Health Ministry.
