Fence of Bogd Khaan Palace Museum demolished

- ULAANBAATAR

To ensure residents’ right to live in a healthy and safe environment, improve land use, and increase the availability of sidewalks and squares, the Ulaanbaatar mayor established a working group tasked with eliminating land conflicts.

On April 8, city authorities began taking down the fence around the Bogd Khaan Palace Museum. Following the demolition, nearby sidewalks will be widened and bicycle paths will be built with landscaping.

Senior Adviser in charge of Administration and Legal Affairs to the Ulaanbaatar mayor D.MunkhErdene said, “The working group is working in accordance with the decree of the Ulaanbaatar mayor. According to the initial survey, more than 1,770 unlicensed fences need to be demolished. We are prioritizing our work based on human resources. Businesses are actively participating and some have expressed interest in dismantling fences. We urge businesses to remove fences that are detrimental to the appearance of Ulaanbaatar.”

Bogd Khaan Palace Museum covers 5.7 hectares of land. The museum recently renovated its park, attracting more visitors. Citizens supported the demolition of the fence, which had been deteriorating the appearance of the city.

Manager of the museum D.Enkhbayar said, “I support the demolition of the fence. The museum’s parking lot has a capacity of 24 cars. We sometimes get many buses during peak season. However, only two buses can park there, making it difficult for customers to get in or out. Therefore, city officials have decided to expand the parking lot as well.”

Citizens can report fences, building extensions, temporary garages, and containers that obstruct passage through the hotline 1800-1200 or directly at khoroo offices. According to complaints, the relevant authorities will take the necessary measures.
