Domestic food packaging discussed
Cabinet set up a task force to study proposals made in the food sector and develop a draft resolution on it during its irregular meeting on April 29.
Last week, Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene met representatives of food companies to control rising food prices and received proposals and comments from them.
In connection with this, relevant ministers were tasked to take the following measures to prevent the rise in food prices and ensure the stability of production and supply of key food products:
To study the possibility of amending the Law on Value-Added Tax, Food Law, Labor Law, Law on Free Trade Zones, Law on Quarantine Control and Inspection and
Law on Social Insurance in relation to the import of animals, plants and their raw materials and products
• To take relevant measures to export beef, mutton and goat meat processed and prepared by licensed companies by the third quarter of 2022 in accordance with relevant legislation
To study and introduce the possibility of meeting the demand for food packaging through domestic production
To resolve the issue of open sale of food products, production and services in accordance with the Law on Hygiene in public roads and squares of Ulaanbaatar
DRAFT BUDGET FRAMEWORK STATEMENT FOR 2023 SUBMITTED TO PARLIAMENT
Cabinet discussed bills on the budget framework for 2023 and budget assumptions for 2024 to 2025 and a draft parliamentary resolution on the approval of Mongolia’s Development Plan for 2023 last Friday.
Minister of Finance B.Javkhlan handed over the bills to Speaker of Parliament G.Zandanshatar and introduced each of them.
For the draft development plan, state and local government organizations proposed to carry out 643 measures worth 23.5 trillion MNT in 2023. Based on the proposals, the government included 18 targets and 75 measures with total funding of 15.1 trillion MNT in the draft resolution in line with Mongolia’s Public Investment Program for 2021 through 2025.
These measures are planned to be financed with 1.8 trillion MNT from the state budget, 1.6 trillion MNT from foreign loans and grants, 6.3 trillion MNT from foreign and domestic investment, 4.1 trillion MNT from public-private partnerships, and 951.4 billion MNT from other sources.
