National Tree Planting Day was held at the National Garden Park on May 7. About 50 organizations and more than 500 citizens participated in the event and planted more than 2,000 tree seedlings.

Head of National Garden Park Company U.Oyunzul said, “About 20,000 trees and shrubs will be planted in spring and autumn. We also plan to plant 100,000 saplings along Tuul River. Thus, our organization is working to plant 120,000 trees in 2022. Today, we have planted 2,000 trees together with citizens and businesses. The next event will take place on May 14 to have more than 100 organizations plant 8,000 trees. In connection with the launch of the “Billions of Trees” national movement, 120 million trees will be planted in Ulaanbaatar. We will care for and protect the trees we plant during all four seasons of the year and make sure they grow well.”

The National Garden Park covers a total area of 973 hectares from the Marshall Bridge to the Uliastai Bridge. So far, 183 hectares have been landscaped and 85 percent of the total area is currently being planted with greenery and trees. More than 150,000 trees planted by the organization are growing with a 98.5 percent sermination rate, officials said.

General Director of Smart Logic LLC B.Ankhbayar said, “Young people of our company came together today to support the “Billions of Trees” national movement and plant trees. Representatives of National Garden Park Company gave us good advice on how to plant trees properly. It was easy to install the seedlings by following instructions. In the future, we will provide regular maintenance and protection. We will check on how the trees we planted are doing regularly. In fact, I plan to take an active part in public tree planting days every year.”

Head of EASY EdTech LLC B.Khangai said, “For the third year since 2019, we are implementing the Plant Trees, Not Waste Program. As part of the program, 30 poplar trees were planted. It was very easy because authorities of the National Garden Park had prepared standard-sized holes for planting trees and other plants.”

The National Garden Park Service has been set up to provide environmental education to the public. It has organized comprehensive landscaping training for more than 10,000 people in eight provinces and nine districts of Ulaanbaatar in addition to large enterprises.
