International Red Cross Day marked
International Red Cross Day is celebrated every year on May 8. The government of Mongolia has been observing this day as National Humanitarian Day since 2011 to promote humanitarian work to the public, especially children and youth.
This year, the Mongolian Red Cross Society organized a “Humane Heart” event at Sukhbaatar Square on International Red Cross Day and introduced its operations and humanitarian assistance and activities completed in the first five months of 2022.
With the support of the Red Cross Society of China branch in Inner Mongolia, two ambulances worth 348 million MNT were donated to the Ministry of Health. With the support of the Chinese Red Cross Society, the Mongolian Red Cross Society donated 50,000 PCR tests worth 658 million MNT to the Ministry of Health.
The Ministry of Education and Science and the Mongolian Red Cross Society, in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development and the United Nations Children’s
Fund, 1,461 toilet kits were provided under the Response to Infection Program.
With the support of the Mongolian Red Cross Society and the Global Fund, the National Center for Communicable Diseases identified 17 TB cases in the first quarter of 2022 as part of the “Active TB Detection, Treatment, Monitoring and Social Support among Homeless People in Ulaanbaatar” project.
Funded by the United Nations Children’s Fund, the Mongolian Red Cross Society’s Social and Psychological Support Project for children and their caregivers in Govi-Altai, Tuv, Selenge and Zavkhan provinces trained 400 volunteers, increasing the total number of volunteers to 4,500 people.
The organization also provided 18 sessions of first aid training to 480 people. On the occasion of World Good Deeds Day, the “I volunteer” Conference was organized for more than 300 children and youth on topics “The Value of Good Deeds” and “Good Deeds and their Impact in 2022”.
