Gallstones and gastric cancer detected mostly among young people

-

Deputy Head of Medical Services of the National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) Ts.Chinbayar provided an update on the early detection and medical checkups last Friday.

The campaign for nationwide medical checkups started on May 1. Since then, NCCD has examined a total of 119 people, 26 of whom were diagnosed with a disease that they weren’t aware of, he said. Relatively young people between the ages of 18 and 30 have been diagnosed with heart arrhythmias, kidney and urinary tract disease, and gallstones, gastric ulcers, and gastric cancer. Thyroid nodules were also newly diagnosed in people.

“This shows the importance of early detection of diseases, especially at an early stage, and the need to promptly provide the next stage of care. Of the 119 people checked, 26 were diagnosed with asymptomatic or undiagnosed diseases. Therefore, we ask our citizens to actively undergo medical checkups. Especially young people need to be actively involved in preventive screening, not just rely on their young age,” he noted.

“In addition, NCCD has been contracted to provide early detection of 30,000 people in 10th and 11th khoroos of Bayanzurkh District. Our center has the capacity to provide early detection and diagnosis to 60 people per day. Currently, 25 to 30 people are screened at the center every day, most of whom are aged 46 to 60. The number of people aged 18 to 30 is relatively low. People who have been notified to get a health checkup and can take time off from work should take advantage of this opportunity to get a medical examination.”
