5 new laboratories put into use

-

Within the framework of the Higher Education in Engineering and Technology MJEED Project, 73 types of laboratory tools and equipment worth 4.1 million USD were handed over to the School of Mechanical Engineering and Transportation of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology and put into use.

As a result, five laboratories (CNC machine lab, mechanical machining laboratory, laboratory of new materials and advanced technologies, biomechanics laboratory and advanced mechatronics and robotic systems workshop) have been established and opened.

These tools and equipment are the latest and most advanced technologies manufactured in countries that leading in production and technology, according to the project team. More than 70 percent of them are new tools and equipment that are being introduced to the school and Mongolia for the first time. In addition to these new laboratories, the tools and equipment at the material resistance, technical metrology and metallurgical laboratories have been completely renewed.

These new pieces of equipment make it possible to carry out experiments and research that were previously carried out in foreign countries at a high cost and not available in Mongolia. As a result, experts will be able to save time and cost of research, the team added.

Also, the scope of the academic work done by the university researchers will be expanded, the creation of start-up companies and innovative products and the quality of academic articles published in international journals will improve, officials highlighted. Specialists who will work on this new equipment are being trained in Japan as part of the project.

The Ministry of Education and Science informed that the training and research equipment and tools handed over within the framework of the MJEED Project will be a real contribution to the preparation of technical and technological specialists with internationally recognized knowledge, skills and experience in Mongolia.
