Marvel the best fine artworks from one spot

- By L.MISHEEL

The National Art Gallery of Mongolia is holding the annual “Best Art of the Year” exhibition to showcase the most spectacular artworks of this year.

The exhibition received a total of 131 submissions of paintings, graphic art, sculptures, carvings, Gobelin tapestry and mixed medium artworks from 96 professional artists from October 17 to 19. In the first round of selection, judges eliminated 34 pieces due to late submission and failure to meet requirements. The remaining 97 artworks have been displayed at the exhibition.

On November 4, a professional council appointed by the Ministry of Culture will announce the best artwork that will be bought by the state fund. In addition, the National Art Gallery will give a special prize to one piece that receives the highest votes from viewers.

In accordance with the regulation, artists submitted pieces that they have created over the last three years.

Ranging from mesmerizing graphic arts to massive bronze sculptures, the masterpieces on display deliver different messages but they generally reflect and confront the change and uncertainty of the world around us.

The exhibition was initiated in 2006 under the government’s Resolution No. 115 with the purpose to award top artworks of the year, promote and support works of Mongolian artists and procure exceptional artworks for the state fund.

To view some of the best masterpieces created by Mongolian artists this year, stop by the National Art Gallery before the “Best Art of the Year” exhibition ends on November 7.
