- By M.AMAR

The members of the working group investigating the coal trade case submitted a proposal to the Prosecutor General of Mongolia to convict the member of parliament and Minister of Labor and Social Protection T.Ayursaikhan. At the beginning of last month, the working group searched the homes, offices, and corporate facilities of his assistants, advisors and related people and confiscated documents that could be physical evidence. Then, several sources confirmed that he was referred to the investigation of his actions and proposed to file a criminal case and bring him as a convict. T.Ayursaikhan is accused of abusing his power and position as an influential person in politics.

In addition, Members of Parliament J.Munkhbat and Sh.Radnaased were charged with the crime of ‘public official abusing his official duties, powers, and position by a politically influential person’ as stipulated in Article 22.1-3 of the Criminal Code. Also, J.Munkhbat is accused according to the Article of unjust enrichment of 22.10 of the Law. On Wednesday, law enforcement agencies approached them to introduce the resolution, but one of them did not come because he fled to a foreign country and the other is said to have not read the resolution without any reason.

The coal trade case allegations are from the Tavan Tolgoi region in the south Gobi Desert that is being mined by state-owned Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi and two other companies. Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi has been placed under state supervision as the Independent Authority Against Corruption investigates.
