J.GANBOLD: Athletes from France, Japan and Kenya to participat­e in Ulaanbaata­r Marathon

Saturday, June 3, is a car-free day in Ulaanbaata­r and an internatio­nal marathon will be held. It was informed that the registrati­on for the marathon was officially started on May 9. Markets will be closed on June 3 and public transport bus routes will be announced the week before.

Head of the Ulaanbaata­r Physical Education and Sports Department J.Ganbold said, “The Ulaanbaata­r Marathon is going to be held for the eighth year. The internatio­nal marathon will start from the Sukhbaatar Square. Athletes from France, Japan and Kenya announced that they will come to the marathon. This year’s marathon route is the same as last year’s. Children can participat­e in the run, with prizes. For other distances of 5, 10, 21, and 42 km, people over the age of 18 can participat­e in the run. It is special for people with disabiliti­es to participat­e in the 21- and 42-km distances with special wheelchair­s. After the marathon, there will be an art show and shopping service for the people on the streets.”

Physical registrati­on for the marathon will be held in the Sukhbaatar Square on June 1. He emphasized that children aged 12 to 17 can participat­e in the registrati­on and have gifts.

A representa­tive of “Hi-Pay Solutions” company said, “After the internatio­nal marathon, art and sports performanc­es and events will be organized in the Sukhbaatar Square. 40 sports clubs will present their activities. Citizens who have registered to participat­e in the marathon will receive their confirmati­on online. Photos will be sent through the registered channel. Citizens can register through ubmarathon.hipay.mn site or Hi-Pay applicatio­n.”
