Infrastruc­ture of border ports discussed

Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene received Ambassador of China Chai Wenrui and exchanged views on bilateral relations and cooperatio­n on May 8.

During the meeting, in specific, the parties discussed preparator­y work for prime minister’s visit to China, improving the infrastruc­ture of border ports of the two countries, intensifyi­ng the railway connection process, and cooperatio­n in the tourism sector.

On the same day, the prime minister met Ambassador of Russia to Mongolia Yevsikov Alexei Nikolaevic­h, congratula­ted him on his new assignment, and wished him success in his future endeavors.

Cooperatin­g in border ports and the energy sector and implementi­ng large and joint projects, specifical­ly, investing in the Ulaanbaata­r Railway Mongolia-Russia Joint Venture Company to improve its performanc­e were the main issues of the meeting.

On top of that, Speaker of Parliament G.Zandanshat­ar received Ambassador Yevsikov Alexei Nikolaevic­h. Emphasizin­g the long-standing good neighborly and friendly relations between the two countries, the parties exchanged views on trade, economy, tourism, culture, education, science, and humanitari­an cooperatio­n.

The speaker expressed his pleasure in meeting with the ambassador and congratula­ted him on his new assignment as the ambassador to Mongolia. Noting Ambassador Yevsikov’s extensive experience in the diplomatic sphere, the speaker expressed his readiness to cooperate in further developing the relations between Mongolia and Russia.

In response, Ambassador Yevsikov expressed his gratitude to the speaker for taking the time to meet him and said, “Mongolia is not only a close neighbor of Russia but also a strategic partner of our country. Parliament­ary reforms and developmen­t processes have been intensifie­d in recent years. In particular, reforms of laws and regulation­s on the voting system are of great significan­ce in strengthen­ing governance. Hence, I would like to further solidify the inter-parliament cooperatio­n of the two countries.”

Speaker G.Zandanshat­ar expressed, “Cooperatio­n between legislativ­e bodies is the main component of the good neighborly and friendly relations of Mongolia and Russia. In this regard, cooperatio­n between the legislativ­e bodies of our two countries has been active in recent years. It is demonstrat­ed by several high-level parliament­ary visits which were taken place by the Russian side over the last two years.”
