Ch.BATZORIG: 447,000 cars in UB now have digital certificates
From March 1, 2023, electronic certificates have been issued free of charge to all vehicles, and installation of RFID chip readers has begun. The relevant officials talked about the work progress. Ch.Batzorig, director of the related Unit of the Traffic Congestion Project of Ulaanbaatar said, “The digital electronic certification of vehicles is ongoing. In this context, a solid infrastructure has been created and RFID readers have been installed in 161 locations. Public transport and government cars’ digital certificates are being issued now. After that, the work of issuing the certificates to 36,000 vehicles of the ‘UB Cab’ taxi service, as well as to the vehicles of citizens in six central and three remote districts, will begin. It is planned to be completed by August 1 in Ulaanbaatar and they will start paying taxes digitally from September 1. Digital certificates will be issued to local vehicles from June and there are 1.2 million vehicles nationwide. In the first phase, 3 billion MNT is being allocated from the capital’s budget to provide electronic certificates for 447,000 vehicles in the capital. The Bodi Group won the tender to provide these certificates.” Head of the transport organization department of the Department of Transport Policy Implementation of the Ministry of Road and Transport Development E.Munkhnasan noted, “An open bid for the installment of the digital certificates has been held. After the contract is signed, the first batch of certificates will be supplied this month. After that, a bid for the installment of 580,000 digital certificates will be announced. It was reported that the Bodi Group was chosen as the organization to supply the certificate for the 447,000 vehicles. The company is importing the products and taking care of the software. Due to the time required for the procurement process, the issuance of electronic certificates was delayed at the beginning of May. At the end of May, the work of installing digital certificates to citizens’ cars will begin.”
Head of the Information and Technology Department of the Capital O.Chinzorig informed that with e-certification of vehicles, entry and exit, and parking payments at bureaus will be converted to digital mode. And after cars, mopeds, and motorcycles will be subject to digital certificates.
