Bilateral relations with Kyrgyzstan to accelerate
On May 30, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia B.Battsetseg held official talks with her Kyrgyz counterpart Jeenbek Kulubayev to evaluate the current state of bilateral relations and cooperation and exchange views on the in-depth development of cooperation at the national and regional level.
Within the framework of Mongolia’s foreign trade diversification policy, the parties agreed to export goods such as meat, meat products, and leather to Kyrgyzstan and through the country to other countries in the Central Asian region, import fruits and vegetables from Kyrgyzstan, support government cooperation through policies and activate cooperation between veterinary hospitals and quarantine institutions.
Minister Kulubayev mentioned, “Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Regional Development of the country Askarbek Djanybekov is also paying a visit. There is a wide opportunity to develop cooperation in the agricultural sectors of the two countries in a mutually beneficial way.”
In connection with the announcement of 2023 to 2025 as the “Years to Visit Mongolia” to promote tourism, the sides discussed the restoration of direct flights between the two countries and the development of tourism cooperation by effectively using the mutual visa-free travel agreement.
As part of the “A Billion Trees” initiative, they decided to work together to establish the “Mongolia-Kyrgyz Friendship Grove” Project in Erdenet city, and introduce the Kyrgyz fruit and berry tree seedlings to Mongolia.
The foreign ministers also discussed issues such as the regularization of the mechanism of consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs, the exchange of young diplomats, the inclusion of diplomats in foreign language courses at the Diplomatic Academy of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the training of Kyrgyz diplomats in Mongolian.
The parties also affirmed that they are committed to deepening cooperation within the framework of the United Nations and other international organizations.
Minister B.Battsetseg mentioned that the two countries have steadily developed friendly relations and cooperation over the past 30 years, and noted that as a landlocked and developing country, the developing relations with Kyrgyzstan will be enriched with trade and economic content and cooperation will be intensified.
