MPP supports giving allowances to all children

- By L.MISHEEL

Chief Cabinet Secretary D.Amarbayasgalan reported on the issues discussed at the Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) caucus in Parliament on May 30.

He said, “Party caucuses are holding a meeting before the third discussion of the draft constitutional amendment. Some people do not like increasing the number of members of Parliament. Some understands this and wants to change. The question is whether to take medicine or cure the distortions of the current system. Tomorrow, parliamentary session will be held and the third discussion of the draft constitutional amendment will take place. It is impossible to see the increase in the number at the current level.”

Chairman of the party and Premier L.Oyun-Erdene expressed a firm position on not reducing the number of members from 126, while some people suggested that the number of members should be 99.

The caucus also discussed the amount of salaries and pensions and supported to increase it from July.

Minister of Finance B.Javkhlan informed, “From July 1, there will be a change in the salaries of civil servants of culture and sports, and the salaries of other civil servants will be raised from October 1. Moreover, a child allowance of 100,000 MNT will be given to all children. From January of this year, all child allowances deducted will be reimbursed.”

Chairman of the MPP caucus D.Togtokhsuren noted on May 29, “Parliamentarians worked in their constituencies. Some lawmakers worked a lot in soums, while others had a planned meeting. The number of members will be discussed at the caucus meeting tomorrow and an official decision will be made. In general, citizens say that 126 is high. On top of that, there has been increased frustration with the Education Loan Fund. After talking it at the caucus meeting, it will be agreed with the parties sitting in Parliament. If we do not agree on the number 126, we can make another number and discuss it at parliamentary session. I think we will cover this issue this week. Looking at what the members are saying in general, they do not support 126.”
