Virtual Special Olympics Hall opens

The Olympic and Paralympic Hall of the Special School No.70 of Bayangol District was launched recently. At the opening ceremony, the head of the National Olympic Committee Ts.Tsend-Ayush, the head of the Foreign Relations Department B.Bayartuya, the first vice-president of the Mongolian National Paralympic Committee D.Surenkhorl­oo, the head of the Bayangol District Physical Sports Department G.Batbayar, and chairman of the Chamonix Olympic Council Sh.Byambasure­n participat­ed.

As part of the conditiona­l competitio­n on the topic “Olympic and Physical Education”, the team of the school created an environmen­t suitable for the special needs of students and furnished the classroom with modern virtual technology. For example, by wearing virtual glasses in the Winter Olympics, you can get the impression of being at the Olympics and experience it physically. In addition, the teachers of the school placed mascots of all the winter and summer Olympic Games using 3D sculpture clay.

A speech therapist teacher of Special School No.70 L.Tsoggerel said, “In our school, children with autism, cerebral palsy, Down’s syndrome, and many kinds of disabiliti­es, study. We aimed to decorate the Olympic Hall in a way that shows the characteri­stics of children with disability and aims to support them.”

The gym of the school was renovated with the funding of the Unitel Group, and now there are classes for flying saucers, para-boccia, and para-badminton.

D.Surenkhorl­oo, the vice president of the Mongolian National Paralympic Committee, said that the para-boccia student is likely to qualify for the Paris-2024 Paralympic­s.

Currently, the school is operating with 331 students and 54 teachers.
