MPP: Election bill should be approved before June 26

-

During its weekly meeting on June 5, the Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) caucus in Parliament discussed the order of bills to be discussed and approved by Parliament before closing the spring session, and made a decision.

Deputy Chairwoman of the caucus M.Oyunchimeg reported, “The draft law on parliamentary elections should be approved before June 26. In connection with the amendments to the Constitution of Mongolia, it was considered necessary to approve bills such as the draft law on political parties, which require a lot of action and detailed discussion.”

The caucus agreed to approve the education package bill, which was postponed due to the concerns of some members of the government.

The Standing Committee on Education and Science decided to act responsibly on the bill, according to the legislator.

The MPP caucus also believes that it is necessary to adopt the social insurance package bill. Due to the fact that issues such as salary, pension, and allowance increase are pending in connection with this law, the Standing Committee on Social Policy considered that it is necessary to work on the bill in detail.

She elaborated, “The government will submit the draft amendment to the 2023 budget of Mongolia to Parliament next Wednesday, and the discussion will begin on Thursday.”

“In addition, the bill on support for women entrepreneurs has created expectations in this sector, so we need to discuss it. The draft law on child protection also needs to be submitted by the government, and it is necessary to link it with the Law on Family.

Moreover, due to the lack of necessary laws and legal frameworks, many people are suffering due to gambling, so the working group has developed the gambling bill and the horse racing bill. Therefore, the ministers and lawmakers said that it is necessary to discuss and approve them,” M.Oyunchimeg continued.

She added, “Chief Cabinet Secretary D.Amarbayasgalan said that there is a need to amend the Civil Service Law, and that Parliament can approve the bill if the government submits it immediately.”
