B.Maral wins COP 28 technological project competition
Maral Bayaraa from Mongolia won the first place in the technological projects contest named “Prototypes for Humanity” organized under 28th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP 28) which took place in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Dubai. Over 3,800 scientists and researchers from around the world participated in this contest which happened under the patronage of Dubai Princess, Sheikha Latifa. The researchers introduced their innovative and advanced project ideas to solve the catastrophical and huge climate change problems which human-beings are facing nowadays. B.Maral made a satellite mine alarm system to prevent the disaster caused by the mining, which was chosen as the best proposal based on Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI). With the help of this innovative technology, it is possible to monitor the manufactures such as tailings dams, from the satellite. B.Maral who works toward finding the possibilities to utilize the data of the satellite into the Mega-Project planning, accredited her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the University of Bristol and is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in the University of Oxford. In 2020, Maral Bayaraa was attained as one of the best and the youngest 10 researchers. Furthermore, she is an engineering DPhil researcher at the University of Oxford, a Keeley Scholar of Wadham college, supported by an Industrial Fellowship from the 1851 Royal Commission. A total of 100,000 USD funding will be given to the best innovative projects such as hers.
