‘Veritas’ depicts true love
Within the framework of “Art week Ulaanbaatar 2024” initiated by the Ministry of Culture and jointly organized by the Union of Mongolian Artists, the second solo exhibition of artist S.Tsatsral, the “Veritas” will be held at B Contemporary Art Gallery until May 12. Art critic B.Uchral is the curator of the exhibition.
In order to explain the exhibition “Veritas”, there is a need to trace the origin of the word. Veritas means truth in Roman mythology, and Veritas is the god of truth. However, this time, we are seeing not the god of truth, but the true love of female and male people, and their memories in this exhibition. The way in which she uses optical art images (artists use shapes, colors and patterns or Mongolian Traditional Ornaments in special ways to create images that look as if they are moving or blurring) and successive movements, linear intersections with the drawing of lines, spatial transitions, flat covering method, and the traditional Mongolian painting, can be said to be a sense of image and an expression of language. In terms of content, making “HUMAN” a part of the main character and description of her work is more about the nature of existence than gender definition. It is even more interesting that the name was chosen about the conflict between lovers and the time when we forget to listen to the voice of love within us. Therefore, from here we can understand human and interpersonal relationships and spiritual interpretations.
In general, the concept of “Love” is an expression of the truth and narrative of feelings that cannot be evaluated by our brains, imaginations, existence, and memories. To note: “All people are not immortal, you and I are also immortal”, so sublimate your feelings in the middle field between “true desire” and “true love”, and think about the memories that the artist is trying to convey.
The artist, S.Tsatsral is a member of the Union of Mongolian Artists and the Mongol Zurag Society and since graduating from the Mongolian University of Art and Culture with a degree in Mongolian painting, she has been participating in many international and domestic exhibitions with her colorful works. More than 40 works are displayed in this exhibition and are open to the public. You can find many butterflies and ornaments on most of her paintings.
Out of curiosity, I asked the reason for depicting butterflies, and the artist said, “The butterfly is a very sensitive and attractive creature, and that is how I want my paintings to be”. She then continued, “The painting named ‘Hope’ is the work of art which I adore the most. The meaning is that everyone has a dream, and I wanted to encourage all of them not to lose their dreams in the busy flow of life, and continue to pursue it and reach their goals”. It is said that art is an accurate portrayal of an artist’s expression. If you want to discern how artist S.Tsatsral illustrated her thoughts about true love and memories of human beings, come to the B Contemporary Art Gallery.
