China provides more aid to flood stricken regions
China has sent a fresh batch of relief aid to flood-hit Myanmar Xinhuanet reported on 16 August. Motorized dinghies worth 1.6 million US dollars were flown in on Saturday night to help with rescue operations.
According to the report, the official Chinese relief mission has already donated supplies worth 300,000 dollars to the hardest hit regions of Sagaing and Magway, as well as Rakhine State. Individual Chinese provinces and companies have also given their support, the south western province of Yunnan recently sent aid worth 400,000 dollars.
On Friday, 14 August, the Chinese Enterprises Association in Myanmar and two mining companies donated 40,000 dollars’ worth of basic supplies including rice and oil to villages in Sagaing.
