China pro­vides more aid to flood stricken re­gions

China has sent a fresh batch of re­lief aid to flood-hit Myan­mar Xin­huanet re­ported on 16 Au­gust. Mo­tor­ized dinghies worth 1.6 mil­lion US dol­lars were flown in on Satur­day night to help with res­cue oper­a­tions.

Ac­cord­ing to the re­port, the of­fi­cial Chi­nese re­lief mis­sion has al­ready do­nated sup­plies worth 300,000 dol­lars to the hard­est hit re­gions of Sa­gaing and Mag­way, as well as Rakhine State. In­di­vid­ual Chi­nese prov­inces and com­pa­nies have also given their sup­port, the south western province of Yun­nan re­cently sent aid worth 400,000 dol­lars.

On Fri­day, 14 Au­gust, the Chi­nese En­ter­prises As­so­ci­a­tion in Myan­mar and two min­ing com­pa­nies do­nated 40,000 dol­lars’ worth of ba­sic sup­plies in­clud­ing rice and oil to vil­lages in Sa­gaing.
