Myan­mar to de­stroy more than three-month frozen chicken

If im­ported frozen chicken is frozen for more than three months, it will be de­stroyed, the state-run news­pa­per The Global New Light of Myan­mar said, cit­ing an an­nounce­ment by the Live­stock and Treat­ment Depart­ment.

“Ac­cord­ing to the an­nounce­ment, the sam­ples of im­ported frozen chicken will be tested at An­i­mal Quar­an­tine Sta­tion to check if the chicken have been frozen for over three months. Those over­due frozen chicken will be de­stroyed with­out the breed­ers be­ing com­pen­sated,” said the news­pa­per.

Phyo Min Thein, the Yangon Re­gion Chief Min­is­ter, made the de­ci­sion af­ter he met the chicken breed­ers in late June.

“He will pro­ceed to sub­mit this mat­ter to the Union gov­ern­ment for ap­proval,” said the news­pa­per.
