Myanmar to launch the country’s largest book plaza in Yangon
Myanmar’s planned largest book mall, named Yangon Book Plaza, will be launched in early 2017, the state-run newspaper the Global New Light of Myanmar reported citing a spokesperson of the Ngadoesarpay publishing house.
The book plaza will be opened in Thanzay (Iron Bazaar) in Lanmadaw Township in Yangon, according to San Mon Aung of the publishing house.
Local publishers’ bookshops, memorial spaces of famous Myanmar writers, spaces for books chains, office and coffee shops will be included in the new book plaza, said the newspaper.
The construction began in April and it is currently over 50 percent complete.
The book plaza will also host book festivals and related events, the newspaper reported citing the project implementer.
