Hi­malaya Air­lines to launch flight ser­vice be­tween Kathmandu and Yan­gon

Nepal-based Hi­malaya Air­lines will launch a flight ser­vice be­tween Kathmandu and Yan­gon on Fe­bru­ary 24, re­ported the Kathmandu Post.

Hi­malaya Air­lines will op­er­ate two flights weekly on the route on Mon­day and Fri­day us­ing a brand new Air­bus 320, re­ported the news agency.

Kathmandu Post said Nepal signed an air ser­vice agree­ment with Myan­mar in April 2006. In the past, Union of Burma Air­ways used to of­fer flights be­tween Yan­gon and Kathmandu.

Myan­mar is among the top seven tourist source mar­kets for Nepal, the news agency re­ported cit­ing Nepali gov­ern­ment’s statis­tics.

Nepal re­ceived 25,769 tourists from Myan­mar in 2016, with a ma­jor­ity of them en­ter­ing the coun­try over­land. Among them, 15,284 vis­ited Lumbini, the birth­place of the Bud­dha, re­ported the news agency.

Hi­malaya Air­lines will also launch five weekly flights from Kathmandu to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia on Fe­bru­ary 10.
