Himalaya Airlines to launch flight service between Kathmandu and Yangon
Nepal-based Himalaya Airlines will launch a flight service between Kathmandu and Yangon on February 24, reported the Kathmandu Post.
Himalaya Airlines will operate two flights weekly on the route on Monday and Friday using a brand new Airbus 320, reported the news agency.
Kathmandu Post said Nepal signed an air service agreement with Myanmar in April 2006. In the past, Union of Burma Airways used to offer flights between Yangon and Kathmandu.
Myanmar is among the top seven tourist source markets for Nepal, the news agency reported citing Nepali government’s statistics.
Nepal received 25,769 tourists from Myanmar in 2016, with a majority of them entering the country overland. Among them, 15,284 visited Lumbini, the birthplace of the Buddha, reported the news agency.
Himalaya Airlines will also launch five weekly flights from Kathmandu to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia on February 10.
