Sec­ond an­niver­sary of sign­ing of NCA held in Nay Pyi Taw

The event to com­mem­o­rate the sec­ond an­niver­sary of the sign­ing of the na­tion­wide cease­fire agree­ment (NCA) was held in Nay Pyi Taw on Oc­to­ber 15, ac­cord­ing to re­ports. The Myan­mar Pres­i­dent Htin Kyaw, State Coun­sel­lor Aung San Suu Kyi, Vice-Pres­i­dents Myint Swe and Henry Van Thio, Lower House Speaker Win Myint, Up­per House Speaker Mahn Win Khaing Than, other top gov­ern­ment of­fi­cials, the Com­man­der-in-Chief of De­fence Ser­vices Senior Gen­eral Min Aung Hlaing, top mil­i­tary of­fi­cers, politi­cians, the wit­nesses, diplo­mats and some eth­nic armed groups at­tended the event. The NCA was ini­ti­ated on Oc­to­ber 15, 2015 dur­ing Thein Sein’s gov­ern­ment ten­ure. Dur­ing the event, Aung San Suu Kyi re­it­er­ated the gov­ern­ment’s wel­come of non-sig­na­tory armed groups to the NCA to join in the peace process, re­ported Xin­hua.
