Tat­madaw (De­fence Ser­vices) C-in-C’s Of­fice is­sued a press state­ment on Novem­ber 6 which says caves have been found made by the Arakan Ro­hingya Sal­va­tion Army (ARSA) at Kyauk­pantu and Thin­bawk­way vil­lages in Maung­daw Town­ship, Rakhine State. The full text of Tat­madaw C-in-C of­fice says, “Af­ter re­ceiv­ing a tip-off that the caves made by ARSA ter­ror­ists were found at Kyauk­pantu and Thin­bawk­way vil­lages in Maung­daw Town­ship, Rakhine State, se­cu­rity forces vis­ited th­ese vil­lages and searched in the morn­ing of Novem­ber 5. They found man-made caves of 15’ in length, 10t in width and 5’ in height at a small hil­lock in the mid­dle Kyauk­pantu vil­lage. The cave is re­in­forced with logs in the ceil­ing and floored by wooden planks. Af­ter in­spec­tions, the cave was be­lieved to be used as a store for food and medicines. Se­cu­rity forces then pro­ceeded to Thin­bawk­way vil­lage and searched the area. There they found a cave dug in rock east of the Thin­bawk­way vil­lage with the di­men­sions of 4’x3’ with the length of about 40’ with two tun­nels in­side the right tun­nel is about 40’ in length and built 2’-bed in­side on each side of the tun­nel. At the end of the tun­nel, about 5’x5’ space was built as a liv­ing room. Sim­i­larly, the left side tun­nel has the length of about 40’ and 2’-beds were built along the tun­nel in each side with the exit is at the end of this tun­nel. Af­ter in­spec­tion, it is found that about 20-25 ter­ror­ists lived in this cave and tun­nel and also 5 rice bags, an empty edi­ble oil con­tainer, stu­dent iden­tity cards of Mar­mat Tu Saung (son of) Mo­hammed Kar­lar Myar from Thin­bawk­way vil­lage and Aduhaleik (son of) Abu Harshein, 3 Qu­ran books and 3 worn shirts were found in­side.”
