Two peo­ple died on the spot with 21 oth­ers were in­jured in a truck ac­ci­dent in Zaya Thiri Town­ship in Nay Pyi Taw on April 16, ac­cord­ing to news re­ports. It was the last day of the Water Fes­ti­val known as Thingyan. With 24 pas­sen­gers aboard, a truck trav­el­ling to cel­e­brate the Water Fes­ti­val crashed into a lamp post and over­turned. The driver has been charged for neg­li­gent driv­ing. Dur­ing the Water Fes­ti­val, from April 13 to 16, four deaths and 42 in­juries in con­nec­tion with 20 traf­fic ac­ci­dents were regis­tered on Yan­gon-Man­dalay ex­press­way, ac­cord­ing to the po­lice.
