Myan­mar Strate­gic to open com­pany's first in­ter­na­tional school

Myan­mar Strate­gic Hold­ings Ltd (MSH) on has said it re­ceived an in­vest­ment per­mit from the Myan­mar In­vest­ment Com­mis­sion for the com­pany's first in­ter­na­tional school, Yan­gon Amer­i­can In­ter­na­tional School, ac­cord­ing to an Al­liance News ar­ti­cle.

Head­quar­tered in Sin­ga­pore and Yan­gon, its ear­li­est in­vest­ments were made in the hos­pi­tal­ity mar­ket, start­ing in Au­gust 2014, with the ac­qui­si­tion of the de­vel­op­ment and man­age­ment rights of Ostello Bello Ba­gan, a bou­tique ho­tel lo­cated in Ba­gan.

In 2016, the com­pany di­ver­si­fied into the ed­u­ca­tion mar­ket by ac­quir­ing the rights from Pear­son to open lan­guage cen­tres un­der the Wall Street English brand in Myan­mar. The first English lan­guage cen­tre was opened in Fe­bru­ary 2017 and a sec­ond lo­ca­tion in Yan­gon was opened in Novem­ber 2017. A third lo­ca­tion in Myan­mar Plaza opened in Au­gust 2018. The firm said that the re­fur­bish­ment of the Yan­gon Amer­i­can fa­cil­i­ties is "well un­der way" and sched­uled to com­plete by May. The school, with ca­pac­ity for up to 400 stu­dents, is tar­geted to launch in Au­gust 2019.
