Gale damages houses in Nay Pyi Taw
Agale following heavy rains in Nay Pyi Taw damaged houses in Oattarathiri Township in Nay Pyi Taw on April 17, according to state media. The gale damaged 152 houses, three Buddhist monasteries and five schools in Ottarathiri Township. On April 18, Nay Pyi Taw Council chairman Dr. Myo Aung and officials provided humanitarian aid and support to the wind struck victims. They first handed over humanitarian aid from the Disaster Management Department which included Kyat 2,364,800 for rice, house construction and 11 rescue items for 46 houses that were blown down in Nan Chun village. They also handed over Kyat 920,000 which will be divided into K20,000 per household. They also handed over Kyat 2,014,200 from the Disaster Management Department for purchasing rice, covering house construction costs and 11 rescue items for 29 houses of Ngansat village, South Zalaung village and North Salaung village.
