Talk on Role of Women Lead­ers in Increasing Re­sis­tance to Ad­ver­sity

Atalk on “Role of Women Lead­ers in Increasing Re­sis­tance to Ad­ver­sity” was held at the Thin­gaha Ho­tel in Nay Pyi Taw on May 14, re­ported the state-run news­pa­per The Global New Light of Myan­mar. Vice Pres­i­dent Henry Van Thio’s wife Dr. Shwe Hl­wan de­liv­ered an open­ing speech at the talk. In her open­ing speech, Dr. Shwe Hl­wan said the day’s talk was led by MRCS, and it (MRCS) was the only Red Cross or­ga­ni­za­tion in Myan­mar. She said that MRCS was formed un­der MRCS Law as the coun­try’s re­serve force in the hu­man­i­tar­ian as­sis­tance sec­tor. It is pro­vid­ing sup­port and as­sis­tance with­out dis­crim­i­nat­ing with re­gard to race, re­li­gion, po­lit­i­cal be­lief and gen­der with the aim of de­vel­op­ing mu­tual friend­ship and un­der­stand­ing among hu­man be­ings and peace in the coun­try and abroad, she said.
