Yan­gon to get Sky­train by 2027

yan­mar's Yan­gon re­gional gov­ern­ment is plan­ning to im­ple­ment a sky train project in Yan­gon, Xinhua

The project, the ‘Yan­gon Ur­ban Mass Rapid Tran­sit’, was made pub­lic on Sun­day in Hlaingth­aya town­ship.

As the first phase con­nect­ing the east­ern and western parts of Yan­gon, the 18-km-long sky train project will start from Hlaingth­aya Sta­tion along the Yan­gon-Pathein road, cross over Hlaing River, run along the north of Bayin­naung Bridge and stop at Parami Sta­tion.

The sky train is claimed to be based on stan­dard mod­els of Thai­land and Indonesia and the pe­riod for sur­vey and de­sign phase will last un­til 2022, ex­perts said, adding that the project, which will en­sure min­i­mal im­pact on the en­vi­ron­ment and the com­mu­nity, is tar­geted to be com­pleted by 2027.
