Truck collision kills three in Kayin
A HEAD-ON collision between two large trucks on Thursday on the Myawady-kawkareik road in Kayin State has left three people dead, rescuers said.
A fire that started after the collision was put out by fire engines helped by local charity organisations at around 4am.
“The trucks involved in the accident were carrying gas canisters and spray cans. The fatalities are believed to be both truck drivers and one driver’s assistant,” said Ko Thet Naing Oo, one of the rescuers who helped put out the fire. As of 11am on Thursday, some 1000 vehicles were believed to have been stuck in a traffic jam extending 3.2 kilometres in both directions from the scene of the accident.
Thingyan Nyinaung police station is investigating the accident.
