Shan and Yan­gon over­come their ri­vals

FTER two months break due to Asian Games, the do­mes­tic league re-com­menced its matches on Septem­ber 14 and top ri­vals Yan­gon United and Shan United de­feated their op­po­nents re­spec­tively.

The Lions took three points af­ter beat­ing Myawady 4-1 at their home Y.U.S.C sta­dium on Fri­day with the hat-trick goals of Sylla.

Guinean striker Sylla Sekou opened a lead­ing goal for the Yan­gon United in the first minute against Myawady. And then the sec­ond goal scored by Sylla again in 4th minute and 73rd minute. Sylla Sekou al­ready scored 14 goals (in 2018 MNL season) for the Yan­gon United and added three more goals last week. Now, he is lead­ing the top scor­ers lists with 17 goals.

Af­ter this vic­tory, Yan­gon United con­tin­ues to lead the ta­ble of the Myan­mar Na­tional League 2018.

Mean­while, their close ri­val Shan United also se­cured the vic­tory af­ter beat­ing Rakhine United 2-0 on Fri­day at Thuwana sta­dium.

De­spite the fact that the Shan Un­tied strik­ers had to strug­gle for the goal, they ruled the match from the start. Their de­fender Wil­lianm Nyakwe scored the open­ing goal for cur­rent holder team in 4th minute.

Korean mid­fielder Lee Han-Kuk added an­other goal for Shan in 68th minute.

Now, 2018 Myan­mar Na­tional League run­way has al­most fin­ished and has only one week left to com­pete. Both rank­ing leader Yan­gon United and cur­rent holder Shan United are still hop­ing for the do­mes­tic league tro­phy. At the mo­ment, Yan­gon United earns 48 points while Shan United is 47 points mak­ing th­ese two ri­vals have only one point dif­fer­ence.

Else­where, Zwekapin United trounced Ayeyawady United 4-1 on Satur­day at Pathein sta­dium, And GFA de­feated Magwe 2-1 on the same day at Thuwana sta­dium.

The other match on Fri­day be­tween Yada­nar­bon and Han­thar­wady United ended in a 2-2 draw at Grand Royal sta­dium, Bago.
