Flowers galore planned at Pyin Oo Lwin festival
Over 200,000 flowering plants will be showcased at the month-long Pyin Oo Lwin flower festival at National Kandawgyi Gardens in Mandalay Region starting on December 15.
THE 13th Pyin Oo Lwin flower festival will feature over 200,000 flowering plants, according to U Wai Myo Aung, project manager of the National Kandawgyi Gardens in Mandalay Region, where the event will be held.
U Wai Myo Aung said floral experts from Chiang Mai, Thailand, will handle the floral arrangements at the exhibition, which starts on December 15.
“We will also display floral sculptures at the festival, which will be held through January 15 next year,” he said.
The 430-acre (172-hectare) gardens comprise more than 360 acres of land and 70 acres of water.
Concerts by famous singers will also be featured at the festival. Thousands of foreign and local visitors are expected to flock to the festivities.
“We usually go to the flower festival even if we don’t go to the Pyin Oo Lwin fire balloon festival. Pyin Oo Lwin’s National Kandawgyi Garden makes us feel relaxed and re-energised. There is so much beauty at the flower festival. It gives us a pleasant feeling when we attend,” said Mandalay resident Ko Thura.
