Horse racers meeting tomorrow at Okahandja
The extra-ordinary meeting of the Namibia Horse Racing Association (NHRA) will take place at Okahandja tomorrow. In an interview with Nampa yesterday, association secretary general Eamon Freygang said all clubs are expected to attend the meeting scheduled for 09h00.
“This is a very important meeting as we are going to discuss the way forward during Covid-19. The pandemic interrupted our yearly programmes and activities, which requires us to meet,” Freygang said.
The SG added that some NHRA members are not complying with the association’s rules and regulations when holding competitions. “The meeting will among others outline the new rules to be complied with during this Covid-19 period. We are going to make changes here and there collectively for the betterment of our association,” he said.
Freygang further said the N$1.5 million sponsorship for horseracing from Mobile Telecommunications Limited and the new race programme for 2020 will also be discussed at Saturday’s meeting. The NHRA was formed in 1999 with only six racing clubs and now has 20 clubs which employ 300 people.
