GS22 dubs collaboration with Berthold a masterpiece

Gifted young singer Gabes Shiimi aka GS22, has talked confidently about his up-and-coming collaborative single ‘Consistency’ featuring acclaimed singer and songwriter Berthold Binda, branding the record as classic.

In an interview, GS22 confirmed that the release of the song is on November 25, 2020, and it will be available on all major stores and online streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer, Google Music, and YouTube.

‘’This would be a full-fledged song. The recording is all done, and the outcome is a masterpiece,’’ says GS22.

Consistency is a combination of both Dancehall and AfroSwing genres, produced and mixed by two producers, Danny Cash and Kalo, while DJ Chronic mastered it.

The song talks about a never-ending love from a significant other or anyone who continues to give love, and all you can give back is appreciation and being thankful for the love, you have received.

GS22 says the whole idea of composing ‘Consistency’ came up from listening to different dancehall beat samples in the studio. Since he likes practising versatility, he tried out various genres as well as sounds from Afro-Pop to RnB and Soul, to a glance of the United Kingdom (UK) drill and AfroSwing.

Commenting on why he chose to collaborate with Berthold, GS22 believes that Berthold is arguably one of the best RnB singers and vocalists in the country, and by a landslide, he seems to do it so effortlessly.

“He is a very talented individual, and I too wanted to bring the old school music closer, which connected us to the new school era,” GS22 explained.

According to Berthold, he was contacted by GS22 via social media on a possible collabo, and the rest was history.

“Even though we never met in person, we were so lucky to make use of our emails... back and forth, I recorded my version separately and sent him the files, and he did the same. The technology was one of the users accessible tools on this collabo,” says Berthold.

Berthold added that it was fun and successful working with GS22 as he is an upcoming singer who is passionate about music.

“Every day is a learning course with him... I wish him more collaborations so that he has so much experience in the end. The more you work, the easier it gets. I wish him all the best for all his future endeavours, ” says Berthold.

GS22 is well known for releasing his first project earlier this year, an EP titled ‘Jack of All Trades’, which consisted of six songs. One of the hit songs on his EP was ‘Who is Next?’, which was well received by many music lovers, and made him be recognised as young, ambitious, and an artist dedicated to his craft.

His first studio session was back in 2012 when he was just 12 years old, and recorded a song titled ‘Upper Echelon’, which he says was aimed to uplift his reputation and display his potential as an upcoming artist.
