Tses Spring Tournament this weekend

-

Tses in the ||Kharas region will be a hive of activity this weekend when it hosts the eighth edition of the Football and Netball Spring Tournament.

The tournament’s organiser, Thomas Tsuseb, said the event is aimed at keeping young people entertained and bringing football to the footballstarved residents of the southern village.

“The tournament has been growing in leaps and bounds and through this we are also trying to groom unknown players for first division teams by allowing them to showcase their talents against the experienced guys. This year we expect more teams compared to the 32 we had last year,” Tsuseb noted.

The registration due date is today and the draw will be conducted this evening at 20h00 at the town’s village council chambers. The matches will take place tomorrow until Sunday. The football tournament is open to the Namibia Premier League (NPL), national second and third division teams and non-league teams.

The winners will receive N$20 000 in cash, a floating trophy and 20 gold medals, while the runners-up will walk away with N$10 000 and 20 silver medals. The semi-final losers will each receive N$5 000, while the top goal-scorer will be rewarded with N$500, and the best goalkeeper with a trophy.

A lucky draw will be done for teams outside of Tses, where they stand a chance to win N$1 000 fuel voucher. The final will be played in two new football kits.

The netball winners will receive N$2 500, a floating trophy and 10 gold medals, while the runners-up will walk away with N$1 800 and 10 silver medals. The third-placed team will receive N$700 and bronze medals. Registration is N$2 000 for football and N$500 for netball.
