Mbangu promises potable water for Rundu Rural residents
MAZANA - Independent candidate for Rundu Rural constituency Paulus Mbangu said once elected into power, the issue of residents drinking water from the river will become a thing of the past.
Mbangu said this during his campaign rally at Mazana village on Saturday.
He noted that the majority of the constituency’s residents drink unhygienic water, which they collect from the river.
Mbangu said he has a water strategy aimed at developing water infrastructure in the constituency for people to have clean water.
“I will also pursue the regional rural water supply authorities to initiate community-based water management strategies and support water- based committees for the proper managing of those water points,” he said.
The independent candidate further vowed to improve rural development through the enhancement of agricultural production, information dissemination to rural communities, provision of community outreach programmes, and also to prioritise developmental projects aimed at reducing unemployment in the area.
Mbangu said he will consult the various stakeholders and residents to draft a road masterplan for the constituency.
He also promised to advocate for the expansion of the telecommunications network to villages and establish a constituency internet gateway project.
