JZ: You have to kill the opponent

-

Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer wanted his side to score more goals after their 3-0 victory over Tshakhuma Tsha Madzhivandhila.

Pirates went to the break with a comfortable two-goal lead courtesy of Deon Hotto and Gabadinho Mhango before Fortune Makaringe put the game to bed with the third goal just after the hour-mark. With the Buccaneers dropping their attacking intensity, Zinnbauer says his side were not hungry.

“I think it was a tough game but we had a lot of opportunities in the first-half, also in the second half, this is a point we have to speak with the team,” the German tactician told SuperSport TV after the match.

“You have the possibilities you have to score. But I’m happy ‘Gaba’ [Mhango] scored, [Deon] Hotto scored, [Fortune] Makaringe scored, I’m happy about these players, they make good work with the ball and against the ball, then you get a loan for salary for this.

“We had the possibilities earlier to score, not one or two or three to score and then the game is finished but you give a little bit of sugar and you go back, this is what we need to work on,” he went on

“When you have the control then you have to ‘kill’ the opponent, if you have to score, score - two, three, four. You have to be hungry but my feeling today, we were not hungry, 3-0, we go back and be casual. It’s a good defence work but you have to be [on] the offence, we had a lot of counter-attacks but we too, this is the thing we have to speak.”

Zinnbauer added that he’s pleased with the depth of his squad as they coped well without the suspended Thulani Hlatshwayo at the back, who was replaced by Innocent Maela, who played an unfamiliar role alongside Ntsikelelo Nyauza.

“This is the advantage that we have, we can change easily for us, the structure, the system or the players, that’s good for us. I’m happy [Happy] Jele came back, our captain came back, it’s good we need his experience, he makes maybe 20 or 25 minutes but it’s good. The defence was good.

“The four defenders played well, [Paseka] Mako played well, [Wayde] Jooste was much better in the offence, this what we want from him, I’m happy he gets the Man of the Match [award], it’s good for [his confidence].” Kickoff
