Grade 11, 12 results creating a momentum

- Martin-Olembe Antindi

Grade 11 and 12 results are not just a mere outcome of the examinations that our learners wrote last year, these results are more than just an outcome of the external examination, these results create a momentum.

These results are the determining factors and create a momentum of reflecting, thinking, planning, re-planning to determine the way forward. Therefore, I am urging teachers, parents and learners to engage in this momentum by analysing the results of the children and determine the way forward.

The way-forward is what marks the beginning of the new life of the child/learner. Learners will not have similar way-forwards, some will be eligible to go to tertiary institutions, some will go back to school especially the grade 11, if they have met the requirements, the bottom line is that there should be a way forward, not a way-still. Parents should ensure that their children avoid away-still of sitting at home and abuse them with home chorus turning them into mere villagers.

I would appreciate it most if all parents engage into momentum to develop out the best way forward for their children, keep an eye on them, coach them on life because of the real-life start after grade 12 results.

Finally, I commend the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture for choosing not to release the results of the learners with their names in the printed media. This embarrassing act has contributed to the stress and depression that some learners suffer after learning about their results.

Congratulations to all the learners that have received their results today, focus on what to do next and don’t compare your results with other learners/people.
