KEETMANSHOOP — A 30-year-old man accused of murdering his 50-year-old stepfather was denied bail yesterday in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court. State prosecutor Frederick van der Colf while opposing bail informed magistrate Elzabe Konjore that the case is serious and drawing significant public interest. He added the State also established the accused Mathew Kevin Cloete is on a warrant of arrest for a previous attempted murder case. “He (accused) might abscond if granted bail and there is a danger to the public if he is released on bail again,’’ Van der Colf argued. Magistrate Konjore then remanded the accused in custody until his next court appearance on 6 April 2021, for legal aid and investigations. In a recent crime report availed by //Kharas Nampol regional crime investigations coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Chrispin Mubebo, it is alleged that the accused stabbed the deceased with an unknown object after the deceased was allegedly trying to stop the accused from quarreling with his (accused) mother.
