MultiChoice celebrates women in leadership

- Staff Reporter

Aligning with the 2021 UN Women theme for International Women’s Day – “Women in leadership: Achieving an equal future in a Covid-19 world”, MultiChoice Namibia (MCN) continuously amplifies the voices of women who drive a positive change within the business.

“Inclusivity and equality are important to us as this contributes to innovation and economic development,” said MCN managing director Roger Gertze. “This is demonstrated through our gender representation, throughout the company, where women remain at the forefront of critical areas. Their brilliant contributions to MCN have further elevated our status as an anchor in ICT, despite the current unusual way of working.”

“We are proud to share that 50% of our board members, 66% of our executive management team and 59% of our youthful, vibrant

staff are women. On the field, 21% from a total of 33 agents across the country consist of women. “There is no doubt that we provide equal opportunities in all spheres of our business, and we remain steadfast in driving the gender-parity agenda,” added Gertze.

“As a company that believes in enriching lives to empower our local community, our aim to achieve equality and inclusivity extends even further to our Creating Shared Value initiative. The MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) is no stranger to gender representation,” he says.

Half of the Namibian students are young inspiring women who are using their newfound skills to develop the creative industry. They have gone on to create their own content to highlight women’s issues within the country, serve as producers on award-winning productions in Zambia, and have cemented a role within the media industry as radio presenters.

“We celebrate all women, especially those who stand at the front lines of the Covid-19 pandemic – to all the exemplary healthcare workers, inclusive of national and community leaders, innovators, disruptors, mothers and daughters – we salute you,” Gertze concluded.
