The second round of matches in the 2021 Namibia Rugby Premier League once again lived up to expectations over the weekend with Grootfontein, Unam and Wanderers all recording convincing victories to keep their campaigns well on track.

At the southern town of Rehoboth, action kicked off on Saturday with home favourites Reho Falcons taking on Grootfontein Rugby Club, who are affectionately known as ‘Grooties’. In what was expected to be a tightly contested match between the two clubs, Grootfontein proved far superior on the day as they comfortably beat Falcons with 51-28 to set the tone for the 2021 season.

Rehoboth Rugby Club were also at home over the weekend and welcomed Wanderers to their turf. The match was nothing short of action as both teams came out guns blazing from the onset but in the end, it was Wanderers who took their chances to win the match by 18-12.

At the Unam stadium in the capital, Unam Ruby Club also continued with their perfect start to the season when they brushed aside a stubborn Trustco United to walk away as 19-9 victors and cap off a weekend that was marked by nothing but perfect rugby action.

Action will continue this weekend in the country’s flagship rugby league, with coastal side Kudus returning to action on Saturday to face Wanderers at the Wanderers rugby field, while Khomasdal outfit Western Suburbs will square off against Rehoboth Rugby Club at the Rehoboth stadium.

Unam will invade Grooties turf to battle it out in what is anticipated to be a crackerjack affair between the two clubs given their recent perfect run since the start of the current season.
