Rachel Tukuhupwele, Namibia’s representative at the upcoming Miss Eco-Tourism World beauty pageant, says scooping the title will allow her to teach her peers leadership and personal development as most women lack such qualities.

Miss Eco-Tourism World is a new international pageant and 2021 is its inaugural year. The beauty contest intends to bring together some of the world’s most beautiful and intelligent women and create ambassadors for causes like women and children abuse, social-economic development and tourism. Tukuhupwele added that she would like to empower women by teaching them to be independent and educate them that there is more to life.

“Most women lack leadership. They feel they are not enough or are of less value than men. I would like to empower women by teaching them to stand firmly on their own feet and educate them that there is more to life,” she told VIBEZ!

The 25-year-old said the ability to help others is what makes us human.

“I would be able to empower young girls and older women in many ways, and this opportunity would mean that not only I benefit. Hence, I will be giving back to society, and this is something very pleasing to me - to make a change,” she shared.

Thirty contestants are anticipated to take part in Miss

Eco-Tourism World in South Africa from 16 June to 21 June 2021.

“The winner will receive a crown, designed by the famous crown designer Ricardo Patraca from Mexico, a sash, prizes from sponsors, promotion of the brand for the full year, a photoshoot as Miss Eco-Tourism World,” said local pageant director Bobby Kaanjosa.

He stated that Tukuhupwele was selected to represent Namibia at this prestigious pageant after lengthy virtual auditions held last month.

“Tukuhupwele holds a diploma in entrepreneurship and a degree in business administration. She is an entrepreneur and a force to be reckoned with. She will be the first Namibian at this prestigious pageant. She is a former Miss Windhoek and a Top 30 finalist of Miss Namibia 2019. She will do the country proud,” assured Kaanjosa.

Miss Eco-Tourism was founded by South African businesswoman Ntombi Gumede, who has a passion for beauty and travelling, promoting eco-tourism sites and an advocate for natural sustainability.
