Zim delegation tours Meatco
A Zimbabwean delegation led by Zimbabwean Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Frederick Shava, on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the Meat Corporation of Namibia (Meatco).
According to a press statement issued by the ministry of international relations and cooperation on Friday, the delegation’s visit to Meatco took place after both countries took note of Namibia’s interest to export beef to Zimbabwe.
The statement said both parties are committed to putting measures in place to ensure that all the necessary arrangements are made to enable the successful exportation, for mutual benefit.
“We are also pleased with ongoing efforts to strengthen co-operation in the areas of agriculture and food production, where we have seen the secondment of Zimbabwean experts to Namibia. These experts are helping us in the implementation of agricultural projects to boost food production in our country,” the press statement said.
The visit to Meatco comes after the two countries concluded the sixth round of diplomatic and political consultations between the two countries, where the nations consult and exchange views on a wide range of issues pertaining to the strengthening and consolidation of bilateral cooperation and relations, mainly in the areas of development, transport, energy and agriculture, among others.
The sessions, according to the statement, ended with the Deputy Prime Minister and minister of international relations, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and Shava signing an agreement establishing the Namibia-Zimbabwe Bi-National Commission, which elevates cooperation between the two nations, along with diplomatic and political consultations between the two countries.
