Tjiueza cherish Brave Warriors experience

-

Prins Tjiueza is the youngest player in the current Tafel Lager Brave Warriors squad that is in Port Elizabeth, South Africa for the 2021 edition of the Cosafa Cup.

He starred at the same venue last year at the U/20 Championships. Tjiueza was one of the star players for Young Warriors, eventually losing 1-0 in the final to Mozambique, but booked their place in the 2021 AFCON U/20 Championships in Mauritania earlier this year.

The stocky playmaker has since received his Turkish residence permit, but he is still negotiating his contract with the Turkish Super League team, Alanyaspor.

“Football is a journey, and my journey has been one of the hardest, but it has been a blessing. It is every player’s dream to play for the senior national team irrespective of the tournament.

“I played my first national team final here last year and we had an emotional final match, so maybe it’s good omen for me and my country. I have so many memories with the Cosafa tournament, and this one might just be the greatest” said an excited Tjiueza.

The Walvis Bay-born player states that he is grateful for the senior players for the advice and welcoming him in the setup.

“It is intimidating to play or train alongside players I have

watched and idolised, but I’m grateful that they have been supporting and have treated

as part of the team,” revealed Tjiueza.

Tafel Lager Brave Warriors coach Bobby Samaria sings praises of the youngster.

“The boy has so much potential and it is important that we expose him as much as possible. It started here for so many, why not for him? He adds value and is key for us. We have four games now to play and need all the players at our disposal to do the job for the nation,” stated Samaria.

Tjiueza,19, started playing football for his school team, Tutaleni High School, and then for the Erongo regional team before graduating into the country’s national teams. He is one of the few skilful players who have managed to play for all national teams.

The player too featured for the national under-17s was the top goal scorer at the 2018 Cosafa U17 Cup. - www.nfa.com
