As part of its corporate social responsibility, the Namibia National Reinsurance Corporation Ltd (NamibRe) last week handed over N$20 000 to Miss Namibia 2021 Chelsi Shikongo, First princess Annerie Maré, and Second princess Michelle Mukuve.

NamibRe sponsored the cash prize in addition to N$30 000 given earlier this year to help fund operational costs, as well as the production of profiles for the top-15 finalists.

NamibRe spokesperson Elizabeth Nailenge said they can only be the best if they invest in Namibian people and the environment, they operate in.

“This conviction made it crucial for us to capacitate our people and our country, hence we decided to support the Miss Namibia pageant as we have done for the past few years,” she said.

Nailenge mentioned that the sponsorship will enable Miss Namibia 2021 and the runner-ups to continue to participate in other pageants such as Miss World and Miss Universe

“Chelsi is a representation of us as a people and a nation, and the responsibility lies with all of us to make sure we send her into the world with the best,” she added.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Miss Namibia national director Connie Maritz said it has been two years since NamibRe joined hands with the Miss Namibia organisation.

“This year was very exciting because, with the sponsorship, we were able to travel to Walvis Bay and surrounding areas to film the finalists and the most beautiful inserts that were shown at the Miss Namibia crowning,” said Maritz.

On her part, Shikongo said the sponsorship will help them work on their charity campaigns and other projects lined up.
