Distorting the history

-

Political leaders and their workers are in a race for claiming credit for bringing water from the Melamchi river. In a pressurised manner, they are hesitant to name King Birendra who had developed the plan to initiate the Melamchi Drinking Water Project five decades ago. A detailed feasibility study was conducted during his tenure. Later, the government led by Krishna Prasad Bhattarai had endorsed the project. Finally, a deal was made between the Asian Development Bank and the Nepal government to construct the project at half of the budget than now. It took more than a decade to complete the project due to the vested interests of the political parties in the government.

Again, The federation of Nepali Journalists observed its 66th anniversary this month. FNJ has recognized Krishna Prasad Bhattarai as its first president.

The fact is different. According to the record published in the Nepalko Patrakaritako Itahas by Ramraja Poudel, Sattyanarayan Bahadur Shrestha is the first president of the Nepal Patrakar Sangh established in 2008 B.S.. Premraj Sharma was the vice president, Bhojraj Neupane was the secretary, Ramhari Joshi was the treasurer and Ramraja Poudel was the co-secretary of the Organisation.

Narayan Prasad Upadhaya, Devendraraj Sharma, Bhimbhakta Joshi and Prakashchandra Tandan were the executive members. Later, Grishma Prasad Devkota has also confirmed it in Nepalko Rajnitik Darpan. So far, a Nepali journalist delegation was invited by the then USSR to visit Moscow. In the process of preparing a list

of journalists to be included in the visiting list, the then NC government had stated Bhattarai as the president of the Nepal Journalists Association three years later in 2011 BS.

In the government prepared list of journalists visiting Moscow, Fattebahadur Singh was mentioned as the vice president, Maniraj Sharma as the secretary, Sriram Singh as the undersecretary and Udayaraj Shastri as the treasurer.

Hirdayachandra Singh Pradhan, Sharada Regmi and Raj Bahadur Mishra were included as the executive member in the Organisation. This is an example that how history has been distorted by Nepali journalists!
